VocalLab AI Setup Guide — From Purchase to First Voiceover in 15 Minutes
You bought the deal. Now what? Here’s exactly how to set up VocalLab AI and get your first voiceover exported in under 15 minutes.
Step 1: Set Up Your Account
Go to vocallab.ai and create an account. If you bought through AppSumo, you’ll get a license key via email within minutes. Enter it in your account settings to unlock your tier’s features.
Your AppSumo purchase also gives you 60 days to request a refund. I’d recommend activating immediately and testing it — worst case, you get your money back.
Step 2: Browse and Pick Your First Voice
Go to the Voice Library. You’ll see the full list of 260+ voices. Use the filters:
- Accent — American, British, Australian, Indian, and more
- Age — Young, middle-aged, senior
- Gender
- Style — Conversational, authoritative, warm, energetic, neutral
Pro tip: Don’t try to find the perfect voice on your first pass. Pick one that’s ~80% right. You’ll discover better options as you use the tool more.
Step 3: Write Your First Script
Keep it short for testing. Something like:
> “Hey everyone, welcome back to the channel. Today I’m going to show you something I’ve been testing for the past few weeks, and honestly? It surprised me.”
Keep sentences under 20 words for the best results. Longer sentences lose the natural pacing.
Step 4: Configure Voice Settings
Before generating, adjust:
1. Pacing — Start at 1.0x, adjust up or down
2. Emotion — Add `(conversational)` at minimum. Try `(warm)` or `(excited)` for different vibes
3. Breaks — Add `(pause)` between major sections
Click Preview. Listen. If it sounds wrong, adjust and preview again.
Step 5: Export
Once you’re happy:
- Click Export
- Choose MP3 (smaller, most compatible) or WAV (Tier 4, higher quality)
- Check “Export SRT captions” for word-level timing files
- Click Generate
Your files will download within seconds. MP3 goes into your video editor. SRT goes in as a subtitle track.
Step 6: Drop Into Your Editor
DaVinci Resolve: Import MP3 → drag to timeline → import SRT → drag above video → done.
Premiere Pro: Same process. Drag MP3 and SRT in. The captions sync automatically.
Final Cut Pro: Import MP3, then import SRT. Match timeline timing.

Awkward pauses in wrong places Write shorter sentences
Captions out of sync Re-export SRT, check frame rate matches
